Movie Review:

This is actually one of my favorite Christmas Romance movies of the season; right up there with “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “Undercover Christmas,” “Holiday in Handcuffs,” “ His and Her Christmas” and others. I seem to have a thing for these accidentally in love themed romances; especially when the leads have great chemistry and you are rooting for them to fall in love. I also love when the leading man is the kind of man, you yourself would be crushing on; cute, sexy, funny, kind, lovable and sweet to women. That is exactly everything that Jordan Bridges brought to life in his character. I loved this film and this would be one to add to my list of all time favorites. Hope you love it too.

Cast: Lacey Chabert, Rick Malambri, Vivica A. Fox

As the students are held hostage, they are forced to learn about themselves and each other, the spirit of Christmas, and get the courage to work together and fight back to foil the thieves.

Movie Review:

Honestly, this is one of the least enjoyable holiday movies I’ve seen this season; as well as among the worst I’ve seen of all time. The premise is somewhat semi-unique but also ridiculous; the dialogue and acting quite stupid; the characters are one dimensional and the actors who play them did not quite pull off the emotional depth I assume the writers intended them to portray. Didn’t Vivica A.Fox and Lasey Chabert use to get better roles? You can watch it if you like, if you really have nothing better to do or you want something watch when your high, but me, I’m never watching that again.

Despite Susan’s and Jake’s compatibility, their new blended family turns out to be more than Rusty and Cheri had bargained for. Now, the calculating canines must channel their pooch powers to keep their family from ending up in the dog house.

 Movie Review:

This film is a fairly light, modest and sweet romantic comedy; nothing too serious to wrap your brain around, at least nothing at the forefront. The two leads are the most perfect match made in heaven couple I have ever seen in a romantic comedy, no one had a jerk for a boyfriend or a witch for girlfriend threatening to break up their perfect union. In fact; the big threats could be easily resolved by one making a choice of what’s really important in life; advancing your career or having someone to share your dreams with. I think this a very nice, enjoyable movie, especially when you are in the mood for a light, feel-good movie that’ll make you laugh.

“A Christmas Wish”-A Hallmark Christmas Movie Review

A Made For TV Movie

Network: Hallmark Channel

Release Date: November 20th, 2011

Cast: Kristy Swanson, Edward Herrmann, Tess Harper

Synopsis:

When Martha Evans (Kristy Swanson) finds herself homeless with her two young daughters and stepson just a week before Christmas, she puts her trust in a new town full of friendly strangers and prays for the best.

Martha’s no good husband, Cal (Bart Johnson), has left her for the last time, emptying her bank account and disappearing without a word. Hopeless, Martha takes the kids to a sleepy town where she moves into a motel and begs the owner of the local diner, Trudy (Tess Harper), to hire her as a waitress. Taking a chance, Trudy decides to help Martha and her children, even as things go from bad to worse when Martha’s car breaks down and her bills start piling up. Then, as Martha begins to meet more of the locals, including handsome sheriff Joe (K.C. Clyde), perky teenage babysitter Jeanie (Danielle Chuchran) and grumpy but warm-hearted diner regular Les (Edward Herrmann), Martha finds her faith just be restored—-until Cal returns. Can the town still give Martha the merry Christmas she needs, or will her past prevent her from the happiness she’s found this holiday?

Movie Review:

There was no magical or mystical being in this film; no angel from heaven trying to earn their wings or Mr. and Mrs. Claus trying to restore someone’s Christmas Spirit. True Christmas magic was reflected in this movie in a different form; through ordinary people in an ordinary town.  This film emanated Christmas spirit; through the power of love, giving, kindness, support, encouragement, friendship, human connection, taking chances, faith and God’s love. Some parts of this film made me cry because it reflected some of the things I crave and some of the things I’m thankful for at this point in my life. It showed me that Christmas magic is not in the Christmas tree or gift wrapped boxes under the tree, it is the love in our hearts and how we show others our love and gratitude for them; as well as how we reflect God’s love in showing kindness to strangers. It’s also in the power of forgiveness, hope and knowing God loves you no matter, where you have been, the choices you made, who you are, what you have or what you have done. This movie, even though the acting was a little on the low quality side with the less seasoned actors, has a powerful message, one that reached my heart and for that reason I’d give it five golden glistening stars.

Bible Verse Reference:

14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

“Mistletoe Over Manhattan”-A Hallmark Christmas Movie Review

A Made For TV Movie

Network: Hallmark Channel

Release Date: November 17th, 2011

Cast: Tricia Helfer, Greg Bryk, Tedde Moore

Synopsis:

Rebecca, Mrs. Claus (Tedde Moore) is worried that her exhausted, workaholic husband (Mairtin O’Carrigan) has lost his holiday spirit. She believes she can help him recapture his bliss and secretly heads to the one place she knows the spirit of Christmas must still exist: New   York City, where she first fell in love with Nick.

In a crowded New York diner, Rebecca befriends Joe (Greg Bryk), a caring cop who is worried about this kindly grandmother, who’s alone and low on funds. Joe reveals he and his wife Lucy (Tricia Helfer) are in the middle of a divorce. Sensing that Joe is still very much in love with his wife, Rebecca agrees to work temporarily as the family’s nanny until Christmas. To Rebecca’s delight, by healing Joe and Lucy’s family, she shows Santa that Christmas miracles are still possible and his job’s more important than ever!

Movie Review:

A little bit cheesy as most Santa related Christmas movies are. The premise is quite Cliché; once again, as most Christmas movies are. However, here are some of the things I like about it. I like the fact that when Mrs. Claus realizes it wasn’t in her best interest to be completely honest about her true identity and purpose in Manhattan, she thought it best to use a more careful approach about sharing her true identity with others, so common sense had a place here. I like Joe’s caring and trusting spirit towards “Mrs. Clausburger,” the kindly old woman he meets in a café. A true reflect of Christmas spirit. I also like that she (Mrs. Claus) brought healing, love and Christmas spirit back to Joe and Lucy’s marriage and family. It’s a bit typical and Cliché in its delivery but still a sweet and entertaining holiday movie.

“Lucky Christmas”-A Hallmark Christmas Movie Review

A Made For TV Movie

Network: Hallmark Channel

Release Date: November 14th, 2011

Cast: Elizabeth Berkley, Jason Gray-Stanford, Mitchell Kummen

Synopsis:

Holly Ceroni (Elizabeth Berkley) is a single mother who has been destitute when it comes to luck and love. She buys a lottery ticket, kissing it for good luck before she tosses it in the glove compartment of her car, hoping this Christmas things will get better. That night, Holly’s car is stolen, adding to her streak of misfortune. The next morning Holly discovers her lotto numbers are in fact the million dollar winner, but the ticket is in her missing car.

Mike Ronowski (Jason Gray-Stanford) is one of the men behind Holly’s missing vehicle; he and his friend had inadvertently taken Holly’s car the night before. When Mike’s greedy friend finds the winning lottery ticket he suggests that Mike romance Holly in order to get a cut of the money to help save his family business.

As Mike gets to know Holly, he unexpectedly falls in love with her and realizes there are more important things in life than money. Will Holly’s losing streak continue, or is fate finally on her side this Christmas?

Movie Review:

When watching holiday movies, its best to leave common sense at the door, just watch with your heart and enjoy it for what it is. This movie is one of those movies where people are doing things it doesn’t seem sensible people would do, for instance, toss your lottery ticket in the glove compartment of your car; personally, I’d keep it on my person till I knew for sure it was useless. Another example of something a sensible person wouldn’t do, find car keys on the ground in a parking lot and take the car with the intention of bringing it back. Duh, of course, when that person finds their car missing, they are going to call the police. These silly situations didn’t make sense to me. Nevertheless, these are the situations from which this movie’s premise stems. I really wasn’t feeling the love connection between the two romantic leads. In fact, I only know the actor Jason Gray-Stanford for his role as the dimwitted detective in Monk, so I really couldn’t buy him as a leading man.

I found it a little slow and boring, but still watchable to pass the time, if you don’t have anything more important to do.

“Cancel Christmas”- A Hallmark Christmas Movie Review

A Made For TV Movie

Network: Hallmark Channel

Release Date: November 13th, 2011

Cast:  Judd Nelson, Sante Scaletta, Connor Price, Justin Landry, Natalie Brown

Synopsis:

Imagine Santa’s (Judd Nelson) surprise when the Christmas Board of Directors issues an ultimatum to holiday’s top Elf: In 30 days or less, make Christmas less commercial and material, or lose it forever. The Board is so sure the turnaround is hopeless that they give Santa the task of changing the hearts of privileged kids so they, in turn, will reach out to help a less fortunate boy. Is Santa’s task a daunting one? No more so than making reindeer fly. If ever there was a force for joy, goodness and sharing, it is the mythical man in red. After all, it’s Christmas – believe with all your heart!

Movie Review:

Putting the cheesiness, ridiculous premise and Judd Nelson’s really outlandish adaptation of Santa’s ho-ho-ho aside, I really loved this movie. It is heartwarming and sends a very powerful message, doing good for and thinking of others has the power to heal broken hearts. Funny enough, this movie helped in the healing process to mend my broken heart. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely think it is a ridiculous premise that the fate of Christmas lies solely in the hands of a “Jolly Old Elf” in Red and three boys’ change of hearts, not to mention that Santa answers to a Board of Directors. However, as mentioned putting its silliness aside, I think it is a lovely movie.  Also looking at it from a biblical perspective, it adequately reflects the bible verse Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” This movie shows how God can use your painful experience and your loss, to help someone else heal through their pain. I would recommend it to warm your soul like a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows on top.
